FAQs

Q?

Are the pictures from the captains’ cameras available?

A.

We do not mind sharing photos from our captains' cameras, we are quite good at capturing the moments for our own memories as well as marketing our services. If you would like the captain to provide any photos, you will need to send a self-addressed, prepaid bubble mailer with a small USB only photo-stick style memory card to our office. The photos will be downloaded as soon as we are able, typically on rain/wind days after your trip and we have time to download them from the captains' cameras. Photos are strictly for personal use, no future use for any commercial or similar purpose is permitted.

Q?

Where and at what time will we depart from?

A.

We trailer our boats to the best ramp based on current conditions. While we generally know several days prior the exact launch location, the ramp location may be subject to change at the last minute. The time of departure will be set prior, but will also be subject to change. The office and or the captian will contact you the day prior to your trip to discuss all final details and confirm launch information.

Q?

How many people can we bring?

A.

All offshore trips are limited to 4 passengers unless cleared by the individual captain. All inshore trips are based on 4 passengers, up to two additional for an extra fee with a maximum of six permitted. Children under the age of 6 must be cleared prior to any trip.

Q?

When is the best time to book my trip based on the best fishing?

A.

Each season is different for all of the species we target. Our species page highlights the fish we can catch, and when the typically best time to starget them based on the calendar. There are exceptions to every rule, so we recommend booking a date well in advance and on the best date possible based on seasonal averages over our numerous years of experience. Even during the best of bites there are days when they just won't co operate, although we try our hardest please remember that it is all about the entire experience, having fun and enjoying your day to it's fullest. The fishing typically takes care of itself aboard our vessels.

Q?

Where should I get a hotel room/stay overnight?

A.

We recommend staying in the Plymouth to mid-Cape and surrounding towns. When fishing RI, we recommend Newport or Bristol county. There are many fine hotels, motels, condos, and houses for rent at great pricing, however we do not get involved with any specific arrangements or suggestions. The Captains depart daily from the Plymouth or Yarmouth areas to localized ramps. Based on the species and time of year you are fishing with us, we can suggest which area to lean towards.

Q?

What fish can we keep?

A.

On all private trips, the catch is kept within any legal limits based on the crew's preferences. We encourage catch and release of any species not intended or able to be consumed accordingly by the party. With the exception of bluefin tuna, the daily limit is set by the state and federal agencies responsible for the management of each species, and is subject to change for each seasn/species. Please inquire at time of booking for specific bag limits and open seasons. All bluefin tuna over 73" are the property of the vessel, sunject to NMFS regulations. Any legal sharks wishing to be harvested must be cleared prior to booking with the individual captain. All shared charters the legal catch as outlined above is split equally on the number of anglers on the crew for that trip.

Q?

Weather cancellation policies?

A.

The weather can be quite unpredictable, as well as much different out at sea than on land. Despite the numerous forecasting sites available to our clients, the captian is the sole decision maker regarding weather and safe boating conditions for each and every trip. We are always as considerate as possible in making an informed, responsible decsion on whether your trip will sail as scheduled, however weather can change dramatically and therefore any trip is subject to cancellation up to the time of scheduled departure. Should your trip be cancelled due to weather, we try to reschedule your trip based on a mutually agreeable date in the future. PLease refer to our agreement page for all specific cancellation policies for weather and any other reasons.

Q?

What should I wear/bring?

A.

Please refer to our "What to bring" section for items to bring for your trip. Any clothing should be based on layers, starting with the coldest you expect it to be, with the ability to lighten up throughout the day. Be sure to bring foul weather gear and water-proof footwear whenever there is any possibility of fog or precipitation. The office or captain will go over the expected weather conditions for your trip the day prior to the scheduled date.
