Gear

Coastal Charters Sportfishing outfits all trips with the very best and latest gear that Shimano USA has to offer. All of our set-ups feature Shimano reels to eliminate any gear malfunctions from the equation. It is important to match the size of the gear to the appropriate fish species and at Coastal Charters Sportfishing we maximize the enjoyment by fighting all of our fish on light tackle. No two anglers are built alike and Coastal Charters Sportfishing takes great pride in providing a wide array of different set-ups to accommodate almost any size angler with any fighting style. We sport a full compliment of the latest spinning rod set ups for both jigging and popping, as well as conventional jigging set-ups for both left and right handed anglers. These rods have different lengths and actions, appealing to different anglers, but have one thing in common; they can handle the abuse the large predator fish we target can dish out. All of our terminal tackle has been tested on some of the largest fish caught anywhere in the world on this type of gear. We suggest using our gear on board all trips, unless the angler is familiar with big-game jigging and popping and after approval from the captain. It is important to be responsible with this approach, as it is unfair to both angler and fish to get involved in prolonged fights with improper gear. Coastal Charters Sportfishing focuses on using strictly artificials and provides all of the lures and jigs needed to target both inshore species and the notoriously difficult-to-fool bluefin tuna.

Check out our Affiliates page for more information on the gear we use.
